The Siege #1: The Four Pillars
Hello Guild Wars fans! We are so excited to finally having this show launch for your enjoyment and know we are as excited about launch day as you all are. So for our first show we thought we would talk about our beta weekend experiences but frame it into a conversation about Arenanet’s Four Pillars of gameplay they have designed the game around (Combat, PvP, Dynamic Events, Story) and we discuss whether Arenanet is giving us hype or fact about their game and size up how we think they are doing with the Four Pillars of design they are focused on. Also this week we discuss what races and classes we are most interested in and whether or not it is worth grinding the Hall of Monuments achievements in Guild Wars 1. We hope you enjoy the show and thanks for your patience with us as we will not be able to start our regular show format until the game launches.
Please email feedback and questions to [email protected] and get ready to hear your email on the air!

Great show guys/lady
Looking forward to hearing your thoughts on the game once it actually comes out and everyone has more hands-on experience with it.
One thing I hoped you would have touched on (but didn’t) was how trait lines further deepen the combat system; the first 5 skills along with 6-10. With traits you end up exploding your vanilla weapon sets into some truly awesome abilities and builds.
Really like the show, can’t wait for more.
Guardians FTW!
the dynamic events make the world feel alive. a cool moment for me in one BWE was when i was capping PoI/hearts/Vistas/spawns in the human starter zone i was in the monastery after completing the heart quest and all of a sudden a band of attacking centaurs burst in and start slaughtering the monks/players alike. i’ve never experienced this in any other mmo. the world is filled with examples like this and it really makes for a dynamic game world to me.
nice cast.
i love how dynamic events make the world feel alive, most mmo are too static.
the voice acting is often cheesy and unprofessional; however, you don’t want to make the mistake of spending too much of your budget on over-priced professional voice actors at the expense of the rest of the game (i’m sure we can all think of one recent example of this). ANet takes a balanced approach with VO and story elements together with game play that i believe will be much more successful.
from what i’ve seen so far, ANet has made a lot of smart choices in their design of this game. it’s not perfect (as if anything can be) but the game gets better the more you play it, and to me, that signals serious potential growth. it’s clear they have a strong foundation, solid game direction and talented/hard-working staff.
if they can resist p2w with their cash shop, i can see playing this game for a very long time.
